There’s a lot of great stuff here that you’ll want to make use of. I downloaded quite a bit last night and started listening to Bruce Ware’s lecture “Feminist Revisions of the Doctrine of God.” It is facinating to me how both complementarians and egalitarians are charging each other with revising the doctrine of the Trinity—and heretically so—to fit their preconceived view of gender roles.
Bob’s work involves helping pastors and musicians in the theology and practice of congregational worship and contributing to recordings produced by Sovereign Grace Ministries. He is also one of the congregational worship leaders under Josh Harris at Covenant Life Church.
Bob blogs at Worship Matters, usually discussing the topics of worship and music.
Chapell is a gifted preacher and models well what it means to point people to the grace of God in Christ. If you’re not familiar with his Christ-Centered Preaching: Redeeming the Expository Sermon, I’d encourage you to check it out. The last two chapters were my favorite and are worth a careful read.
The book has been receiving its share of accolades since it was first released early last October. It has become the No. 1 audio Bible in all history, won “Outstanding Gospel Artist—Traditional or Contemporary” in the 38th NAACP Image Awards, instantly rose to the top of Amazon.com’s “Bible and Other Sacred Texts” category, and has received strong reviews by both Christian and secular media.
The Bible Experience is an audio version of the TNIV with readings from over 200 African-American celebrities. The NT has been available since last Fall. The OT is expected to be available this coming Fall.
Paul Schafer at Reforming My Mind does a great job of collecting links to lots of (mostly) free audio sermons and lectures. If you’re looking for some good content for your MP3 player for when you’re traveling, mowing the lawn, or working out, this is a good place to start. Most recently he has featured J. I. Packer (Wikipedia). Here are some of the other individuals he has featured:
You may also want to check out the great collection of D. A. Carson audio links compiled by Andy Naselli.
To save you time in downloading all this great stuff, I’d highly recommend downloading and installing the FireFox extension DownThemAll!. After you’ve installed it and restarted FireFox, go to the page that has the links, right click anywhere on the screen (but not on a link), and click the “DownThemAll!…” option. You can specify what file extensions to include (e.g., MP3, WMA, etc.), where to download the files, and lots of other options. Just get it started and let it do its thing. Depending on the speed of your connection and the number of MBs you’re downloading, you may want to do it before bed.
This won’t get all of the audio, just the audio where the file itself is the link on the page (e.g., http://www.website.com/sermon.mp3, but not http://www.website.com/sermons.php), but it will save you a lot of time.
