Hi John: Is it easier if you shift the focus to God the Father — if we remember Deuteronomy 6. The invitation God gives us “Love the Lord your God with your whole heart, your whole soul and your whole strength” and in Luke 10, Jesus reminds us to do this too. I’m sorry about some of the responses here, but in all of this, we aim for love. Blessings to you! J

Wow, why wouldn’t you want to be in Love with your creator? Jesus said, You seen me you seen the Father. Jesus is everything the Father is and everthing else of what we do not know of. Lean not in your own understanding of this love for your savior. When you experience God and His love you can not help but fall in love with both of them. And I am in love with Jesus and my Heavenly Father. This love did not come from me, it was given to me because of lack within myself and enhanced my desire for them. An expression of deep sincere gratitude of love in every kind of form. The in love with Jesus that I feel inside that comes from every part of my being is about my emotions, heart and soul and body. His love has consumed me beyond words that expresses the very essence that envelopes me within. I had such an encounter with God when God found me that I could have riped the skin off my own bones to get to Him or to have more of HIm. He is that good and that’s how crazy His love will make you. It has everything to do with your emotions, heart and mind when you are in Love with Him. It is about a relationship not religion. It is just like falling in love with someone on earth, but this is the relationship that you have always dreamed of. Everything you have ever wanted in a relationship and custom made just for you. And this relationship will never fail you, He will never hurt you, or leave you,disappoint you in any way. I didn’t expect to fall in Love with Jesus and my Heavenly Father, it was part of my inheritance and how I learned that I could while He pursued me. And it doesn’t have anything to do with male or female God is both, or anything sexual.I am not only in Love with Jesus Christ and my Heavenly Father, I am in love with Righteousness,Justice, His Goodness, His giving, the way He loves, especially His desire of me. So, if you aren’t in love with Jesus CHrist, try seeking out the love of your life with your Heavenly Father. It has nothing to do with male or female anything,our gender doesn’t define us in the Kingdom of God, it’s about who He is, love and every part of love even heavenly things you know nothing about until it is revealed. Jesus said if you love anyone else more than me than your not worthy of Him…(in so many words), because He wants all of you and that means your whole heart.There can be no area in your heart for anything else but Jesus. You will never know what treasures you’ll find until you seek Him with your whole heart, mind, soul and spirit. I can’t tell you all the spiritual riches I have received in Christ Jesus that has to do with us communicating with one another because we are In love with one another. It is like finding a pearl in a field and you wonder how in the world was I ever blessed to find such love, devotion and protection from my creator openly. It is literally walking with God without a flesh body that you can touch. If God is doing this for me he will do it for you too. I will never stop desiring and seeking more of Him until the day that I can kiss Him in His Glorified Presence…..Praise Be to God in the Highest!!! Thank you Father!

In Revelation, Christ told the church at Ephesus that they had left their first or “honeymoon” love. Our love for Christ islikened to that of a bride (the church) and a groom (Christ). Let’s understand that we are to love Christ with every fiber of our being. It’s not a physical or errotic love. It is an agape and phileo love. True some expressionate terms we use may not be the best to use but let’s avoid straining at gnats and just learn to love Christ and to know the depth of His sweet love. True love for Christ is demonstrated by obedience.

Hmm. I think it’s fine to be in love with Jesus as long as you realize that He is the Son, and love God the Father like a father. Might not make logical sense, but emotionally that sits well with me. God is above our hearts and minds. As long as we’re not going against Scripture, what is the problem?

This is how I see it. Women and men are different. And their love for Jesus differs. When I say I’m in love with Jesus, I am! But it’s absolutely not sexual whatsoever. That should be obvious, but apparently men are mistaking women’s intimacy with Jesus as a sexual thing. Nothing could be further from the truth! Intimacy means we give our whole soul to Him, know Him, and trust Him completely. Of course there’s a “prince rescues princess” love in the mix, that’s how women are! But it’s totally pure, and goes completely hand-in-hand with everything the Bible says.. women are feminine. God created us this way. We are the Bride of Christ, yes, as are men. There’s nothing wrong with “scared romance” as long as it’s kept sacred! In fact, that very well may be our eternal purpose.
Seems like people having the wrong attitude about it is the problem…

Have you read the book of Hosea? Jeremiah? Isaiah 54:5? Song of Songs. What about Mary of Bethany washing Christ’s feet with oil and her hair? (To just name a few) My brother, this problem is within you personally.

I agree with the pastor. I’ve always taken issue when I’ve heard either being “in love” with Jesus or worse, “making love” to the lord. I’ve heard both and they both are inappropriate and unbiblical. Being “in love” or “making love” are both designations for “eros” definitely not the type of love to be shown toward God or anyone other than a spouse.

Well, It saddens me that the “world” has put such a negative point of view on this subject. Men who are so afraid of being called gay will reject falling in love with Jesus. It says in the Word that we are to love Christ more than anyone else, including our spouses. He didn’t say, only women should fall in love with me.
I know that we are living in a world where we are concerned with what others may say about us, and we have come to think, that how people judge us for the love we have for Christ, even matters, but it doesn’t. I am head over hills in love with Jesus and so is my husband. In the world’s eyes He is concidered a “Manly Man” and he is not one bit ashamed to say Hey, He’s the lover of my soul!!! That is the point, we are not physically in love with Jesus, we are spiritually in love. This is very strange, because I am the youth leader at our church and our lesson tonight is about being in love with Jesus. He wants an intimate relationship with us. That simply means, unconditional love, worship that never ends, and an intimate prayer life. Sharing everything with Him, even though He already knows all. There are a lot of people on earth that claim to love Christ who are not saved and do not have a relationship with Him. It is a constant desire of my husband and i both to fall deeper and deeper in love with Christ. The deeper we are in love with Him, the less and less the world can get into our minds and pull us down. Well I pray that the love of Christ envelopes you. See you in heaven!!!

You know I think it was the Apostle Paul who wrote about not wrangling over words. The problem is that while we discuss the minutia we miss 2 important things. First, we miss the God we’re talking about. We are treating Him like this football we intellectually toss about. Second, we miss those He cares so deeply about. This is easily one of the reasons why the church is perceived as ridiculous and irrelevant. Don’t get me wrong. Words matter. However, conversations like this matter less when we really think about the enormity of God and the millions that have no relationship with him.
