I thought we weren't meant to let our left hand know what our right hand was doing... and perhaps to follow in the footsteps of Paul to at least a small extent when he talks about being willing to give up all his rights so that some might be saved. Sure, the worker deserves his wages, and I am a Christian worker, but it's a bit unhealthy to get carried away with all of this. If elders are told to not be in it for the money (1 Peter 5), how much more so for pastors? Isn’t it a bit unhealthy to be worrying about relative pay scales?
