Free iTunes Card for Coming to Church!
Church by the Glades in Coral Springs, FL is giving away free $15 iTunes gift cards to every new visitor in hopes of drawing more people in to hear the Bible. There’s even a chance to win a free iPhone.
The iTunes gift card giveaway is in conjunction with series called “i: Living in a Self-Absorbed World.”
Here’s the description of the series from their site:
Is life all about you? Our society will tell you yes. But what does God say about how you should live? The Bible teaches that if you want to be considered GREAT, you must learn to SERVE (Matthew 20:26-28)! Starting August 18th, Pastor David Hughes will spend 3 weeks talking about how to avoid the self-absorbed mentality.
As an added bonus, all first time guests will receive a FREE $15 iTunes Gift Card*. What better time than now to check out Church by the Glades???
. . .
*one iTunes card per family.
This is the same church that back in January put the words “The Bare Naked Truth on Sex” on a billboard, which resulted in 50,000 hits on its website.
What do you think of this? Is this a good use of creativity? Is this akin to Jesus’ feeding those who would listen to Him preach? Or is this using means that distract from the power and sufficiency of the gospel?
It is quite interesting to note how those outside of the church view such an attempt to reach the lost. See this forum thread from FARK.com: iChurch thinks using iPods will help get the iHeathens into iHeaven. Note: there are some offensive comments, but it’s instructive to see what the world thinks about efforts like this.
