How Do You Fight Lust?
As the previous post suggests, Christian men must be deliberate in their battle against lust—especially, though certainly not exclusively, in their use of the internet. What do you do personally to guard your heart from the sin of lust? How do you avoid inappropriate content on the internet? Do you use an internet filter?1 Do you have an accountability partner or group? Do you use your computer only in an open area? Do you avoid getting on the internet when you’re alone? Do you stay off the internet late at night? Do you simply rely upon God’s grace through the Word and prayer? Take the poll, and share your tips with others in the comments.

I don’t know about the other readers of this post/blog but I am a sinner in profound need of help in this arena. I need help “coming out” about this issue in my church community. I need an accountability partner or two. I need filtering software that works on mac, pc and linux (I work with computer tech for work and have need for personal access to multiple platforms). I am coming clean about this with God little by little, but I can’t make my progress through this issue my wife’s burden. Please help me.

Wow Malik, I am sorry that no one has replied to your post…hectic! Well if you are still struggling with this then firstly - you are not alone! as you can see the statistics show that - this however does not justify it. In terms of solving the issue. Step one is to get stuck into God’s word - no amount of filtering software is going to prevent you from getting to pornography online if you have not changed the attitude in your heart…as the bible says…for out of the wellspring of the heat the mouth speaks…so what you are putting into your mind and what you are think of on a daily basis is going to determine how you act. You need to get serious about memorising God’s word. Start off with the verses on sexual purity and lust. I find a good one is Job 31 v 1 - can you honestly say that you have made a “covenant with your eyes?” - these are challenging - next…you need to be spending time in prayer with God daily…followed up with solid Christian accountability…not just about your online surfing…but about how you are doing in your daily devotions and general thought life patterns. Finally my friend…if your right arm causes you to sin…cut it off…if it means that you cannot have your computer in your room or wherever is your private space then do that…the last line of defence is the filtering software…if you google search you will find an array of tools out there…but none are 100% full proof if you are determined to get through, hence the last line of defence! I will pray for you Malik…keep fighting this issue…I hope you get to read this and are encouraged! God bless you!
