Free Audiobooks
Audiobooks are great for traveling or for routine work that requires little focused attention. Free audiobooks are even better! Here are a couple sites worth checking out.
ChristianAudio.com charges for most of their audiobooks, but they give away a free audiobook every month. Just subscribe to their email list, and you’ll be notified each month about the newest free book. Spurgeon’s All of Grace was offered a couple months ago. The current book is by Leo Tolstoy.
LibriVox.org is site that offers free public domain audiobooks. It is “a totally volunteer, open source, free content, public domain project.” My first thought was that the quality—both of the readers and of the sound—would not be very good. I’ve been pleasantly surprised, though, with the few I’ve checked out. They offer multiple recording qualities for each book, and the readers sound quite professional. Here are a few examples:
- Bernard of Clairvaux, Saint. “On Loving God”
- Kempis, Thomas a. “Imitation of Christ, The”
- Murray, Andrew. “Absolute Surrender and Other Addresses”
